Both, of course, were ancient Greek writers with beards. One asked nonsensical questions that confounded countless generations of Philosophy 101 students. The other wrote epic travelogues chronicling the common hazards of 9th-century BC Mediterranean tourism--including lotus eating junkies, duplicitous sirens, omnivorous cyclops, angry giants, seductive goddesses, sex-starved nymphs, six-headed monsters and, of course, tedious suitors. What was I thinking?
